Jhumar dance is a popular folk dance form popular in the Chota Nagpur region of Jharkhand state. It is a women-centered dance and is famous for the name Janani Jhumar, in which Janani means woman. Dance also includes male participation. Jhumar is divided into many sub-categories, and operations vary from place to place.
Jharkhand state is surrounded by Bihar and Chhattisgarh. It is famous for many things include heritage sites, waterfalls, temples, and Betla National Park, which attracts tourists from all over the world. The province has beautiful dance forms enjoyed throughout the country.
The women’s dance takes place in August and September, shortly after the monsoon season. It is a vital part of the karma festival that marks the celebration of the harvest season in Jharkhand.
Janani Jhumar Dance Performance
Janani Jhumar Dance is performed by a group of women. It involves good interaction between dancers. While performing works of art by engaging in women’s hand’s gestures by stepping on each other’s hands, never tilt with a glossy stretch, sometimes increasing the speed of the dance. Costume Used In Janani Jhumar Dance
The costume is traditional and elegant. Dancers are wearing a plain white saree with a bright red border. The pallu of the saree is well tucked into the waist. Red or similar maroon blouses are used. They all wear necklaces made of shells or beads.
The ears are adorned with white earrings made of paper or shells. The hair is tied into a bun and decorated with a band of white paper blended. They also wear weeping silver ankles as their feet move. They all wear simple makeup to enhance the look.

पोशाक पारंपरिक और सुरुचिपूर्ण है। नर्तकियों को एक चमकदार लाल बॉर्डर वाली सादी सफेद साड़ी पहनाई जाती है। साड़ी के पल्लू को कमर में बड़े करीने से बांधा गया है। मैचिंग रेड या मैरून ब्लाउज़ का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है। ये सभी शंख या मोतियों से बना हार पहनते हैं।
